Coping With Cancer AssessmentFLROC offers individual patient discussions with our dedicated patient care advocate, Judy Aiken, LPN, who can assist families with support, transportation and financial needs through working with the Clifton Springs Hospital, the community, and other support groups. Massage TherapyFLROC, in conjunction with the Integrated Health Department, The Springs, at Clifton Springs Hospital, provides massage therapy by Licensed Massage Therapists for patients on treatment at the Finger Lakes Radiation Oncology Center, with doctor’s approval. For each course of treatment, a one hour complimentary massage (for qualified patients) is available at The Springs. Additional massage therapy sessions are offered at a discounted rate for the duration of treatment. Spouses may treat themselves to a coordinating massage appointment at a discounted rate during the patient’s complimentary massage. Patients are invited to visit the peaceful, healing setting at The Springs (www.cliftonspringshospital.org). The National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health endorses the use of massage therapy for musculoskeletal pain in cancer patients during all phases of treatments. Massage therapy can be instrumental in encouraging circulation, reducing swelling, improving the function immune system, decreasing nausea, improving sleep and reducing fatigue. It also can be a relaxing experience during a particularly stressful time. TransportationFLROC assists in setting up transportation for patients who are unable to drive themselves by exploring different options that may be available. We do have a car (not handicap accessible) and driver available on a limited basis for patients with no other means of transportation. We realize there may be many issues involved when coming in daily for treatments and we work with you to lessen these concerns.
